An Android app for phones and tablets
One app for your photos and videos: browse, sort into albums, and lock the private ones behind a PIN.
A phone collects pictures the way a coat pocket collects receipts. Screenshots sit next to the children. A video from a wedding is three thousand items below a photograph of a parking space you needed to remember for nine minutes. The gallery that came with the phone shows all of it in one long scroll, newest first, forever.
CIRCUS GALLERY is the other way round. It reads the photos and videos already on the device and gives you somewhere to put them: albums you name, a separate place for video, and a locked folder for the handful of things you would rather not hand over when somebody asks to see a picture.
It is a utility. It does not ask you to post anything, follow anyone, or build a profile. You open it, you find the picture, you close it.
The screens you will actually spend time on.
Every image on the device in one grid, grouped by day and by folder. Pinch to change how many fit on screen, swipe through full size, zoom without the picture turning to mush.
Clips kept in their own tab with durations on the thumbnails, so a two-second screen recording and a ten-minute recital are easy to tell apart before you tap.
Make an album, name it, pick a cover. Select a batch and move or copy it in one go. Albums map to real folders on the phone, so other apps see the same tidy structure.
Send pictures and videos to a private vault. They leave the main grid and stop appearing in other gallery apps on the device until you bring them back.
A PIN on the vault, and the option of one on the whole app. Handing someone your phone to look at one photo stops being a small act of trust.
No account, no sync, no upload step. The app works on a plane, in a basement, and on a SIM-less tablet, because everything it shows you is already on the device.
Four pieces, one app — not four downloads.
The everyday view: fast scrolling through everything the phone has shot, saved or downloaded.
Video kept apart from stills so a long clip is never buried under a week of screenshots.
The part that turns a pile into something you can find things in.
A PIN-protected folder on the device for the photos and videos you do not want in the main grid.
Availability of individual features can depend on your Android version and the permissions you grant.
It is worth saying plainly, because "hide photos" is a phrase that gets used loosely. When you hide something in CIRCUS GALLERY, the file is moved into a private folder on the same device and taken out of the index other gallery apps read. It is not uploaded, not copied to a server, and not kept anywhere we could reach it.
That has one consequence every user should know before they start: the vault lives on the phone. If the phone is lost, wiped or the app is removed without restoring the contents first, those files go with it. Treat the vault as a locked drawer, not as a backup — keep your own copies of anything you cannot replace.
The PIN is the same story. It protects the drawer, and we cannot open it for you. That is the point of it, and it is also the reason to choose something you will remember.
No. The app reads the photos and videos already stored on the device and shows them to you. There is no account, no sync and no upload step.
Hidden items are moved into a private folder and removed from the media index that other gallery apps read, so they stop appearing in them. A file manager with full storage access can still browse the device, which is why the vault is PIN-protected.
Restore anything you want to keep back to the normal gallery before you uninstall. Removing the app without restoring first can leave those files locked away or lost, and nobody can recover them for you.
Albums correspond to real folders on the device, so moving a photo into an album moves the file. The file itself is untouched — no resizing, no re-encoding, no quality loss.
